Senate ~ District 23
Dear friends,

I look forward to hearing your concerns about our District and our State soon.
Sincerely,
I am asking for your support
in the November 2012 election!

Many years ago, an article in the New York Times referred to Rhode Island as "... a smudge on the side of the road from New York to Cape Cod..."

It's time to change America's perception of the Ocean State by creating a place we can be proud of.  How do we do that?  The first step is to balance our general assemblyso that everyone is represented.  Once elected, I will use my business expertise to work tirelessly to correct years of blatant abuse, neglect, and corruption to move Rhode Island in the right direction.

EDUCATION is the key to attracting new employers.  We need accountable teaching staff and our schools to set higher standards for our children.  We need a well trained and educated work force with people who can speak, read, and write English to attract employers to Rhode Island.

EMPLOYMENT  opportunities in Rhode Island have been evaporating at an alarming rate for decades. Ridiculous red tape and burdensome regulation, high property and business taxes, graft, and special interest control have made starting a business more difficult here than anywhere else in New England.  Our crumbling infrastructure is an embarrassment and needs to be addressed immediately to make our state more attractive to potential employers and new residents.

ENTITLEMENTS  have put our state on the brink of bankruptcy.  Our welfare and unemployment benefits are far too generous and last far too long.  I would propose that, after a reasonable amount of time receiving benefits, the recipients would be required to take job retraining courses or lose their benefits.  Many people who work for a living and bear the cost of these entitlements are subject to drug testing.  Why not welfare recipients?

E-VERIFY needs to be reinstated so that illegals are unable to reap benefits such as lowered tuition, free health care, and welfare payments that legal Rhode Islanders cannot access.  Rhode Island should not be a haven for illegal immigrants.

For seven decades, Rhode Islander voters have been held captive by a single party without the checks and balances that could control spending and end the "steamroller" approach to government. We need balance so that all voices can be heard. It's time for career politicians to step aside for the good of our state.

I'm Jay Forgue and I need your vote to achieve balance in our general assembly and representation for ALL Rhode Islanders.
